A Mothers Love — Kanye and Donde West Rhymin Together

As someone who doesn’t have my mother around to support and push me towards my goals, when I see something like this video of Kanye and his mom it plays my heart strings.

From the looks of it this takes place before all the lights and the fame, and you can tell the love Mrs. West has for her son, taking part in the construction of the verse and giving her two cents about what should go where.  There’s nothing quite like a mothers love.

DC Shoes: Rediscover Dreams

I’m a huge fan of skateboarding, DC Shoes and following your dreams.  For a while now, DC has been creating this series entitled “Rediscover” and the latest installment is Rediscover Dreams, and follows on the heels of the DC Shoes movie premiere of Danny Way’s documentary Waiting for Lightning.  Rediscover Dreams gives us a look into what has been going on in the backyard of Mr. Way over the past couple of years, and might I say it’s epic.

DC Presents: Waiting for Lightning–The Danny Way Documentary

I remember the first time I heard the name Danny Way.  It was 1996, I had just got my first skateboard and someone in my crew was talking about a skater who broke his back surfing, and continued to shred on a skateboard a few long months later.  That skater was Danny, and years later I’d come to learn that a broken back was just one of a countless number of injuries that could’ve easily ended an average persons carreer, but not Danny Ways.

So, if you’re like me and couldn’t make it to Hollywood last night, then you missed premiere for the long awaited documentary entitled “Waiting for Lightning” which documents Ways early years, and his ground breaking career on 4 wheels.

Not to fret though, because thanks to Facebooks newest illegitimate child-Instagram, we can see how the night unfolded through the lens of some of skateboard and Hollywoods elite.  Enjoy.

Forever Young

As you may have gathered from previous posts, I’m a huge fan of the Toronto based clothing & lifestyle company The Legends League and IDEALL Clothing
Not only do I rep the apparel with pride like it was my own, but I’m a frequent visitor to their blog, which is home to the writings and rants of its creator Bryan Espiritu.
It’s not your typical blog, this reads more like the private journal of a genius/mad man. One look at his art and you know he can write, and vice versa. He writes what’s in his heart, yet it sounds so relevant to the world we live in. His post today is about how those born on this day will be forever children by the ways we calculate time, and it’s also an introduction to his latest visual piece; Forever Young.
Bryan has Defined Himself in many ways, and we thank him for his contributions. Enjoy.

Congrats to IDEALL Clothing!

While checking my Twitter feed this morning, I was pleased to come across this tweet from our friend Bryan Espiritu, creator of The Legends League and IDEALL Clothing.  Impressive numbers for a truly independent brand, and a concept born while on house arrest a few years back!

Jobs’ Legacy Lives in Apples Hallways

If you haven’t picked up yet on the fact that I’m an inspired individual, and a fan of powerful quotes, take a look to your left and you’ll get a little inspiration boost with one of our random quotes from great individuals.

Next, sit in awe as you learn how Apple has followed in our footsteps, and decorated the lengths of their hallways and walls with quotes and photos from the legendayry Steve Jobs.  Alright, so they probabyl didn’t follow in our footsteps,but all great minds think alike, right?

Regardless, the mega company continues to infuse the legacy of their co-founder and former SEO with plaques throughout their Cupertino headquarters.  The photos date back to his early days with the company and some of the technology he was responsible for, and the quotes are powerful and motivational snippets from some of his greatest speeches.

One of my favorite is

I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long.  Just figure out what’s next.

The Dalai Lama Defines His Worry For Mankind

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:

Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
